May 21-Cars in the park
Alderbrook Park hosts a Friday Night Cruise-in from 4 to 8 p.m. every Friday night through Sept. 11 at 24414 N.E. Westerholm Road, Brush Prairie. Admission for spectators is $5 for kids 4-13, veterans and seniors, $10 for adults and free for tots ages 3 and under. Park amenities are included in admission, such as disc golf, train rides, volleyball, mini golf, bounce houses, play structures and the pool. Fashion forward
The Black History Fashion Show and Cultural Experience is 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Generations Church, 14313 N.E. 20th Ave., A104, Vancouver. Attendees will enjoy a student fashion show, a West African hair and cultural history exhibit, an African American fashion designer exhibit, interactive cultural exhibits, a community celebration of resilience, creativity and Black excellence with a complimentary meal and student raffles. Tickets are $40 to $80. Admission is free for Clark County students with ID and up to seven immediate family members. Registration is required at pddbm.org.
Tales and tunes
Enspire Arts presents "Stories and Song" from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Fuel Medical, 314 N.E. Birch St., Camas, featuring singer and songwriter Owen Kortz and visual artist Jennifer Neal. Admission is a suggested donation of $15. Proceeds support Enspire Arts, a nonprofit organization that works to increase access to arts experiences for Clark County residents, especially local youth, by way of arts-focused events and scholarships. Spring shopping
Queer Community Network will host the Spring Fling Market from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at Fourth Plain Community Commons, 3101 N.E. Fourth Plain Blvd., Vancouver. The volunteer-run market features 25 vendors, family-friendly activities and entertainment. The market is free to attend and there are no fees to be a vendor. A day to remember
The American Legion Smith-Reynolds Post 14, Sons of the American Legion Squadron 14 and Auxiliary Unit 14 will observe Memorial Day at 11 a.m. Monday, at the American Legion Post 14, 4607 N.E. St. James Road, Vancouver. Scouts from post-sponsored Troop No. 320 will participate, along with members of the American Legion family. The ceremony includes music and taps, a Memorial Day program and a wreath-laying to honor the fallen. Cookies, coffee and punch will be provided before and after the ceremony.
