Fincher's ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' Sequel From Netflix To Be Released in Theaters

This Thanksgiving, fans of David Fincher and Quentin Tarantino are in for a treat. The Adventures of Cliff Booth will play in IMAX for two weeks, starting Nov. 25, before arriving on Netflix Dec. 23, just in time for the holidays.

The Adventures of Cliff Booth is a sequel to Tarantino's award-winning Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Brad Pittis reprising his role as the titular Cliff Booth, a Hollywood stuntman. Pitt previously won an Academy Award for his performance in this role.

Although Tarantino was the director on the original, he is taking a back seat for this film. He explained to the Church of Tarantinopodcast that he had already directed this story once and needed a new challenge. The Adventures of Cliff Booth is being directed by David Fincher. Fincher previously worked with Brad Pitt on numerous iconic movies like Seven and Fight Club.

This sequel continues to focus on the film industry, but it's nearly a decade after the first film and features "a very different Hollywood," according to Deadline. The first film is set in 1969, while The Adventures of Cliff Booth is set in 1977. Few other story details are known.

In Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Booth ends up on the Manson Family's bad side after stumbling upon their ranch while driving a hitchhiker, played by Margaret Qualley. Members who were en route to murder Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie) changed course to attack Booth. Due to Booth's stuntman skills and a well-trained dog, his attackers die, and the cult is investigated. This is a rewrite of the historic real-life crime done by Charles Manson's cult that resulted in the tragic death of actress Sharon Tate.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood features stars likeLeonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt as leads, along with Al Pacino, Luke Perry, and Dakota Fanning. Supporting actors like Qualley, Austin Butler, and Mikey Madison later vaulted to major roles.

This sequel also boasts big names: Elizabeth Debicki, Carla Gugino, and Corey Fogelmanis star, among others. Leonardo DiCaprio will not return as Rick Dalton.

The Adventures of Cliff Booth will be replacing Greta Gerwig'sNarnia: The Magician's Nephew, which has been pushed to 2027.

The Adventures of Cliff Booth premieres in theaters Nov. 25 and on Netflix Dec. 23.
