Baron Corbin Set to Return to WWE After Leaving MLW

WWE is reportedly close to reuniting with a former United States Champion.

Since the conclusion of WrestleMania 42 weekend, WWE has released more than 30 different superstars. The wave of roster cuts included The New Way, the entire Wyatt Sicks stable, Aleister Black, Zelina Vega and Apollo Crews.

This time, however, WWE is apparently getting ready to reunite with one of its best mid-card heels of the past decade.

According to a report from Fightful Select, Bishop Dyer (known as Baron Corbin in WWE) is close to returning to WWE.

"Bishop Dyer (Baron Corbin) has finished up obligations with some companies that he had been working with regularly, including MLW," the report said. "He is believed to be either signed by WWE or will be imminently."

Corbin signed with the WWE in 2012 and spent 12 years there before leaving in Nov. 2024, following the expiration of his contract. He joined Major League Wrestling in April 2025 and currently holds the MLW World Tag Team Championship with Donovan Dijak.

Baron Corbin Has an Impressive WWE Résumé

Before Vince McMahon left the WWE, he had a frustrating habit of poorly booking and utilizing certain wrestlers. Corbin, who displayed excellent in-ring and microphone skills, never got the significant push he deserved.

Corbin won the 2017 Money in the Bank ladder match, only to have a failed cash-in. He was placed in feuds with notable talents like Roman Reigns and Hall of Famer Kurt Angle, but the creative team's booking left a lot to be desired.

In his first WWE tenure, Corbin won the United States Championship, the NXT Tag Team titles (with Bron Breakker), the André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal in 2016 and the 2019 King of the Ring tournament.
