What's better than cookies-and-dream ice cream? A cookies-and-cream-colored Golden Retriever!

This new video of a Golden Retriever is going viral for the dog's striking cookies-and-cream markings, which are quite rare, and viewers are astounded.

Instead of the classic white, blond hair, or the yellow, golden, or auburn colors we're used to with Golden Retrievers, this one has an extraordinary look with chocolate mixed into the light golden coloring.

What Are the Different Colors of Golden Retrievers?

Though this cookies-and-cream-colored Golden Retriever is rare to most, apparently, these markings are actually somewhat common for the breed.

The three official Golden Retriever coat color variations recognized by the American Kennel Club are light golden, golden, and dark golden.

The deep mahogany-red color isn't counted, nor is the cream/English cream color, which is more common in European/British lines and is actually recognized by the UK Kennel Club.

The white/platinum extremely pale coloring is also not recognized as a separate color, as it's just the lightest shade of the light golden spectrum.

Black markings, or in this case, a more black-shaded face as we see on this cute Golden, are extremely uncommon in purebreds of this breed.

This cookies-and-cream coloring results from rare genetics, mixed ancestry, and somatic mutations that occur during embryonic development, which can create patches of black fur on a golden coat.

However, it should be noted that purebred Golden Retrievers will always have a golden coat, and if they have black markings, they will be in the form of spots or only on certain body parts, as we see with this Golden puppy, Bernado, from a few years back.

Though, according to the comment section for this video, some people think the rare colorings are a result of the dog being "chocolate dipped" or "dipped in mud," but this adorable dog's colors are due to genetics.
