Blue Moon Brewing Company Changing Its Formula for the First Time -- Here's Why
Blue Moon Brewing Company can readily admit that its beer is not blue (it's actually amber), and the moon in the sky is also, obviously, not blue.
But for one weekend only, Blue Moon's famous Belgian White is actually turning blue. The once-in-a-blue-moon event will, quasi, pay homage to May's second full moon, a so-called Blue Moon that is expected to occur on May 31.
That's why Blue Moon Brewing Company will serve Blue Moon Belgian White Belgian-Style Wheat Ale with a vibrant blue hue at participating bars across the country from May 29 to May 31.
"We can't do much about the color of the moon in the sky, but we can do something about the one in your glass. So for one weekend, we're making Blue Moon, well … actually blue," said Elizabeth Hitch, VP of Marketing, Above Premium Beer at Molson Coors Beverage Company. "Consider it us making good on a promise the night sky can never quite keep."
There will be participating bars in 30-plus markets, including California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, Texas, and Wisconsin, among others.
Added Hitch, "We wanted to take a 'once in a blue moon' moment and turn it into something people can actually experience together over a great beer."
Cheers.
