‘The Boys' Ends But Leaves 5 Unanswered, Yet Important, Questions (SPOILERS)

That's it. Prime Video's popular series The Boys concludes after five successful seasons. Fans of the superhero drama have been waiting nearly six years to see how everything would end for characters they've come to love or loathe. So did The Boys Series Finale rise to the occasion and wrap all of the storylines with a nice bow? SPOILER ALERT!

As an avid watcher of the show, I was mostly satisfied with the outcomes. Like many, I assumed Homelander (Antony Starr) would be killed, but I just didn't know if Hughie (Jack Quaid), Butcher (Karl Urban), or Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) would be the killer. Well, it was quite satisfying to see Butcher use his trusted crowbar to get the job done.

Along those lines, Butcher suffering a murderous fate kind of made sense. His whole purpose was taking down Homelander, and once that was done, as Ryan (Cameron Crovetti) put it, Butcher was also not a good person.

In terms of the rest of the bunch, it was nice to see Hughie and Annie (Erin Moriarty) build a family life for themselves, and MM (Laz Alonso) reunite with his ex-wife and daughter (adding Ryan to the mix). It was also interesting to witness Stan (Giancarlo Esposito) return to Vought, instead of the company being dismantled altogether.

With all of that being said, there were five important questions that were left unanswered. The questions not being answered didn't destroy The Boys series finale, but it would have added some extra resolution.

Where Was Queen Maeve?

Yes, Queen Maeve's (Dominique McElligott) storyline technically ended in season 3 when she lost her power due to Soldier Boy's (Jensen Ackles) blast and secretly went into the shadows to live her unpowered life. And yes, the public was led to believe she was dead after the Soldier Boy incident. However, it would have been nice to get more of a life update about Maeve once Homelander was taken down. Did she start a family? What kind of job does she have now? As an integral part of The Boys for years, I was hoping for some kind of "what's new" segment from her.

What Happens to Soldier Boy?

Homelander previously put Soldier Boy back on ice. Well, after the death of Homelander, viewers don't get an update about what's next for his father. So after Vought regains control, it's uncertain if the corrupt company keeps Homelander on ice to further its experiments and use him for testing. Or, if Vought destroyed Soldier Boy, hoping to really clean up their act.

What Happens with Marie Moreau and Her Bunch?

After Annie sends Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair) and her friends to Canada with the victims Annie and MM rescued from the movie studio lot, the younger heroes aren't heard from again. Now, I can assume that's likely because their story was supposed to continue in Gen V season 3, but Prime Video canceled the show. Even still, Marie's arc as this powerful supe who could potentially become a great threat to Homelander ultimately feels flat, since she wasn't at least in the White House while Butcher, Kimiko, and Ryan were trying to subdue Homelander in his last hurrah.

Is MM Done Going After Vought?

In Season 5 Episode 3, "Every One of You Sons of Bitches," Stan pretty much told MM of his intentions on returning to Vought, and MM explicitly stated, "If that day ever comes, I have a part to play too. And that's to put a bullet in your f*cking skull." Well, the day came, and MM was just seen reuniting with his family. So will MM pick back up his torch for justice, or will he just prioritize his loved ones? After all, his quest with Butcher led to the end of his marriage the first time.

What Happened to Zoe Neuman and Her Father?

Zoe (Olivia Morandin) and her dad, Dr. Sameer Shah (Omid Abtahi), were last seen running away from Kimiko and Frenchie (Tomer Capone). Once Homelander was murdered, a small part of me thought Zoe would return to avenge her mother's death and kill Butcher. However, when that didn't happen, and Zoe didn't resurface when her grandfather was put back in charge of Vought, viewers were simply left to wonder.

But hey, what did you think of The Boys series finale? Also, are you ready for the new spinoff show, Vought Rising, scheduled to release in 2027?
