Why are some cats so talkative?

Cats make all kinds of noises to indicate their needs; however, some cat breeds tend to be more vocal and talkative than others.

According to Mille Lacs Veterinary Group, "some cats naturally like to 'talk' more than others." Breeds like Siamese and Burmese cats are notorious for being vocal and talkative, according to Cats.com, but their talkative nature can also be influenced by a cat's personality.

Cats are vocal with their parents because they're seeking attention or when they're hungry and need something. The Mille Lacs Veterinary Group reccomends providing a cat with plenty of interaction and response so that their needs are met. Talking to a cat can also strengthen their bonds with their parents as they interact more together.

Even if a cat may not be vocal, they still know how to communicate with their people. Certain gestures, like slow blinks or tail movement, can let their pet parent know exactly how they feel at the moment.

If a cat parent suspects something more serious is going on, it's important to take them to their local vet for an examination. In some cats, vocalization may indicate an underlying health issue that needs to be addressed right away.
