One of the Biggest Events in the Dog World Is Headed to Netflix Live
For decades, watching the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show has felt like a tradition reserved for longtime dog show fans and cable TV loyalists. Even people who adore dogs often only catch clips online afterward or stumble across "Best in Show" highlights the next morning. But as streaming continues to reshape how people watch live events, one of the most iconic competitions in the canine world is officially making a massive leap into the future.
The Westminster Kennel Club just announced that its legendary dog show will stream live on Netflix beginning in February 2027. That means millions of viewers around the world could soon be tuning in to watch everything from agility competitions to the coveted "Best in Show" finale without needing traditional television access. Westminster Dog Show Will Stream Live on Netflix in 2027
According to the official announcement, the 151st Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show will air live on Netflix from New York City on Feb. 1 and 2, 2027. Evening judging at Madison Square Garden, including the highly anticipated "Best in Show" competition, will stream directly through the platform.
The daytime breed competitions held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center will also be streamed simultaneously through Tudum and Westminster's official website. Westminster Week festivities will kick off on January 30 with additional canine competitions, including the Masters Agility Championship.
The partnership marks the first time Netflix has become the streaming home for Westminster, which remains one of the most recognizable dog events in the world. The show routinely features more than 3,000 champion dogs representing roughly 200 breeds.
Westminster Kennel Club President Dr. Donald Sturz described the move as an exciting new chapter for the organization, particularly after the momentum surrounding the show's historic 150th event earlier this year. He noted that partnering with Netflix allows the sport of dogs to reach new audiences around the globe.

Netflix executives also emphasized their excitement about bringing the beloved competition to a broader international audience. The streamer has aggressively expanded into live programming over the past several years, including sports, comedy events and award shows, so Westminster feels like a natural addition to that growing lineup.
Honestly, the move could introduce a whole new generation of viewers to the world of dog competitions. Westminster has always carried a certain prestige, but streaming accessibility may help make the event feel less intimidating and more fun for casual dog lovers who simply want to root for adorable pups.
The increased visibility could also benefit brands and businesses throughout the pet industry. Major pet companies have already been leaning harder into large-scale dog events and audience engagement lately. Promotions like the Purina Dog Chow $100,000 contest show just how invested brands are becoming in capturing the attention of modern dog parents.
At the same time, companies continue launching new treats and products timed around major pet moments and seasonal buzz. Even recent launches like Blue Buffalo's Blue Nudges Minis summer release reflect how quickly the pet world continues expanding into mainstream entertainment and lifestyle culture.
And now, one of its biggest crown jewels is heading straight to Netflix.
