Paul Wight Reportedly Signs New Deal With AEW

All Elite Wrestling has reportedly signed one of its biggest names to a new contract.

WWE has released over 30 superstars since WrestleMania 42 concluded. Naturally, fans have speculated that AEW president Tony Khan will move quickly to recruit some of those talents when their 90-day non-compete clauses expire.

According to a report from Fightful Select, Paul Wight (also known as Big Show during his time in WWE), the belief is that the seven-time world champion has signed a new contract with AEW:

"Paul Wight's contract was coming up earlier this year," Fightful Select reports. "However, it's believed that he's agreed to a new deal to stay with the company."

Wight signed with AEW in early 2021 after a 22-year tenure with the rival WWE promotion. He wrestled his first match for AEW at the 2021 All Out pay-per-view, defeating Q.T. Marshall.

The wrestling legend last wrestled a match on Jan. 29, 2024, teaming up with Mike Bailey and Chris Jericho in a winning effort against Kyle Fletcher, Powerhouse Hobbs and Lance Archer.

Paul Wight Will Likely Finish His Career in AEW

At 54 years of age, it's unlikely that Wight will wrestle much longer. If his in-ring career is winding down, it's likely to end right here in AEW.

The seven-time world champion has been a good fit in AEW since coming aboard five years ago. Even if he's planning to retire from in-ring competition soon, AEW would presumably want to keep Wight around in a backstage role.
