'The Boys' Season 5 Finale: Will Homelander Die?
There have been three major deaths in the first seven episodes of The Boys season 5. A-Train, Firecracker, and Frenchie have met their demises so far this final run, but everybody wants to know if one character is finally going to get his deserved death for all of the destruction he's caused in this universe.
Homelander is the ultimate villain. Played perfectly by Antony Starr, Vought's super-powered psychopath just keeps getting more powerful with each passing episode. He's the rare antagonist that is the main character of his series, and whether he wins the battle against Billy Butcher and the rest of the Boys is the main question heading into the finale. Let's dive into whether Homelander will die in The Boys series finale next week.
Homelander Will Die
History shows that the villain never lives in TV and film. Homelander is going to die because that's what has happened in almost every scenario in every other series with similar characters. How though?
It looks like the Boys may have found a way to disarm Homelander by using uranium, one of his main weaknesses. An experiment that Frenchie and Kimiko worked on in the last episode is supposed to allow the latter to emulate Soldier Boy's power, which takes other supers' abilities away. This would take the V1 from Homelander, or even take all of his powers away, letting anybody with the courage to step up to the plate to defeat him.
This is the only conceivable way Homelander would die, although this show always finds a way to throw a major twist in there. Speaking of . . .
Homelander Will Live
Homelander living would certainly be on par with the way The Boys has zagged when every other show zigs. Remember, we mentioned that he's the main character in the series, and the main character doesn't usually die in the finale episode. Homelander conquering his enemies by defeating Butcher and the rest of the gang would be a harrowing warning that sometimes the worst people in the world do actually win.
Homelander remains a fan favorite despite everything he's done. His living in the end wouldn't necessarily make the fans of the show unsatisfied. Narratively, it would also make sense since nobody in the show's universe has the means to kill him unless he's disarmed and stripped of his powers.
