@pinkythedobie Pinky is currently a foster puppy located at Wags and whiskers in Chico Ca She was dumped by a breeder because of her different paw. The deformity is due to absorbing her twin in the womb. Her paw is completely fine and does not bother her. She is about 2 years old with a very very calm and gentle demeanor #adoptdontshop#doberman#chicocalifornia#resuedog#fyp

And while Pinky has thankfully already found her forever home, her story is still a good reminder that shelters and rescues everywhere are full of loving animals waiting for someone to notice them.
Some have extra paws. Some have scars. Some are older. Some are shy. But so many of them are just hoping for the same thing Pinky found in the end: a safe place to belong.
Meanwhile, my Pomeranian, Kingston, acts personally betrayed if I stop petting him for 4 seconds, so I fully understand the emotional power of tiny, dramatic dog hands.
What Should You Know Before Adopting a Rescue Dog?
Adopting a rescue dog can be incredibly rewarding, but experts recommend taking time to understand each dog's personality, medical needs, and adjustment period before bringing them home.
Helpful Things To Consider Include:
• Your home environment and schedule
• Compatibility with children or other pets
• Energy level and exercise needs
• Veterinary care and grooming costs
• Training and socialization needs
• Patience during adjustment periods
Many rescue dogs also need time to fully decompress and feel secure in a new environment. Experts often reference the "3 day, 3 week, 3 month" adjustment rule as dogs slowly settle into their new homes.
And judging by Pinky's happy ending, sometimes the perfect family is simply waiting for the right dog to find them.
