Season 2 of This ‘Star Wars' Spinoff Finally Has a Release Date

Fans have been waiting patiently, and it looks like they will have to wait a little bit longer. It only took three years, but Ahsoka Season 2 has been confirmed. Disney announced that Ahsoka would premiere early in 2027 during their upfront presentation on Tuesday.

Star of Ahsoka, Rosario Dawson, announced the premiere window on stage. She explained, "This season, the battles are bigger, and the stakes are higher," so it seems like the wait will be worth it. Audiences at Disney's upfront program were also shown an exclusive sneak peek that included creator Dave Filoni discussing what went into making Ahsoka Season 2.

One of the most anticipated aspects of the upcoming season is the return of the one and only Hayden Christensen, reprising his role as a younger Anakin Skywalker. Anakin is not the only one coming back for the second season. According to Filoni, Admiral Ackbar will be back "going head-to-head with Thrawn," who is trying to destroy the New Republic. Rory McCann, known for his role as The Hound on Game of Thrones, is taking over the role of Jedi Baylan Skol. Skol's previous actor, Ray Stevenson, passed away in 2023 after filming finished.

In case three years is long enough for viewers to forget, Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) is attempting to repair and restart the Empire. Last audiences saw, Ahsoka (Dawson), her padawan Sabine (Natasha Liu), and the droid Huyang (David Tennant) were stranded in Peridea.

Although the show premiered in 2023 with great success, Ahsoka has been in development for over two years due to the other Star Warsprojects that took precedence. Since Season 1 and now, Andor aired its final season, Skeleton Crew was released, and the animated Maul - Shadow Lord premiered. The Mandalorian and Grogu, directed by Jon Favreau, will also be in theaters on May 22, 2026.

Though this gap between seasons may feel like a long time, it should be nothing to fans of the character Ahsoka Tano, who debuted in the animated Clone Wars nearly 20 years ago. Viewers had to wait two decades for a live-action Ahsoka series - half a year should be easy.
