May 7-La Center celebrates the arts
The La Center Arts Council presents the La Center Arts Fair, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Holley Park Wheel Club Community Center, 1000 E. Fourth St., La Center. The event features local artist booths, art demonstrations, food trucks and a kids' tent. Hear a performance by the Cowlitz Drummers and enjoy entertainment by Robert Lovitt, Rough Cut Music, Wild Embers, the Meltones, 24-7 and MVP. A matter of pride
Journey Theater presents "Pride and Prejudice," playing Friday through May 16 at Manor Evangelical Church, 17913 N.E. 72nd Ave., Battle Ground. Based on Jane Austen's classic 1813 novel, the play follows Elizabeth Bennet as she contends with four sisters, an overzealous match-making mother and a string of unsuitable suitors. When Elizabeth meets the handsome but enigmatic Mr. Darcy, she is determined not to let her feelings triumph over her own good sense - but the truth is slipperier than it seems. Shows are 7 p.m. Friday and May 15, 1 p.m. Saturday and May 16 and 6 p.m. May 16. Tickets are $18 for adults or $16 for youth and seniors. Tell me a story
Campfire Tales adult storytelling show is making its Vancouver debut from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Vancouver Arts Hub, 1007 E. Mill Plain Blvd., Vancouver. Ten storytellers get five to seven minutes each to share something real and mostly true. The audience can offer written feedback, ask questions and connect during intermission. For ages 18 and older. Admission is $12 at campfiretales.org or $14 at the door. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Saturday in the park
Music in the Park is 1 to 7 p.m. Saturday in John Ball Park, in the Hough neighborhood at West 23rd Street and Kauffman Avenue. The free concert features local bands performing live in an outdoor setting. Attendees should bring chairs, blankets, a picnic meal and a non-perishable food donation for the Clark Neighbors Food Project; learn more at clarkfoodproject.org. Spring colors
The Society of Washington Artists will host its Spring Art Show and Sale Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Vancouver United Church of Christ, 1220 N.E. 68th St., Vancouver. Visitors will find paintings, photography and sculpture and vote on their favorites for the People's Choice award. Admission is free and a portion of each sale supports the society's commitment to promoting visual arts in Clark County. Hours are noon to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
