Golden Puppy's Dramatic Reaction to Leaving Grandma's Is the Definition of 'Main Character Energy'
If you were ever wondering if your pet children love their grandparents as much as your human kids, we've found the answer. Meet Saint, a Golden Retriever puppy who practically refuses to leave his grandma in a viral dog video.
"POV: My Golden Retriever puppy already being so dramatic leaving grandmas," wrote the human running the @mygoldensaint TikTok. The on-screen text described Saint the Golden's lively protests. He clearly doesn't want to say goodbye, and in this moment, Saint is the absolute definition of main character energy.
@mygoldensaint His little cries like wdym we can't all just live together?! #goldenretriever#goldenpuppy#cutedogsoftiktok#puppy#boydogmom#funnydogs

This puppy really wanted to stay! Saint's human even guessed what this little guy must have been thinking. They captioned the post, "His little cries [are] like WDYM we can't all just live together?!" This poor baby probably wanted more bonding time with his grandparent.
From the way he whimpered and hung on to the car window, I'd say his human was spot on about this cute puppy's reaction to leaving.
And commenters were touched by the special bond between grandma and Saint. "Grandmothers are always magic, even to puppies ," expressed @hughchuckman. And @winstonsuperdoodle_mocha declared this is "what LOVE looks [and] sounds like."
@ingridjumpsuitqueen imagined what Saint must have been saying with those cries. They chimed in, "[Grandma:] ‘I'll see you very soon.' [Saint:] ‘How soon, grandma? Tomorrow?'" Hopefully, they will reunite soon!

How Pets Bond With Grandparents
Many pets can form strong relationships with their pet grandparents. A study published in Behavioral Processes explores human-dog attachment, and it notes dogs can form bonds similar to caregiver-infant bonds.
Dogs are social animals, and in general, regular interactions with trusted humans, such as grandparents, can help them deepen the bonds with these individuals. Eventually, they can come to associate them with positive experiences. (Those extra treats grandparents give out are a huge bonus, too!)
Saint is a great example of dog bonding with humans, and he's not alone in being dramatic when it's time to go home. Take it from the pet parent behind @brockthegolden, who added, "It gets worse. Hehe. My Goldie refuses to leave grandma and grandads, and he's five ."
If the grandparents are spoiling their pet grandbabies with love, who can really blame them for not wanting to go home?!
