"He said I'm handsome, but I'm not happy," one user commented, while another predicted that he was thinking, "You have no idea what I just went through ."

Another suggested the pup was actually saying, "I was handsome before you took me to that monster." But despite his reservations, everyone thought he was "The most handsome, well-groomed, grumpy floof."

Why do some dogs absolutely hate the groomers?

It's not unusual for a dog to dislike their trip to the groomers.

According to the American Kennel Club (AKC), dogs may feel afraid or uncomfortable when it's time for a haircut because the environment can be overstimulating or stressful. However, there are ways to help ease a dog's anxiety, so a trip to the groomers isn't as scary.

One way pet parents can get their dogs to relax is by getting them used to being touched and groomed. The AKC recommends handling sensitive areas, such as their toes, ears, and tail, at a young age so they become accustomed to it. While you can teach a dog at any age, it's usually easier for a young puppy to learn.

Another way to help train the dog is to work up to you doing their nails and other grooming activities, so it's not as stressful for them. You can even try to train them through giving treats and other positive reinforcement, so they build positive associations with grooming time.
