Skagit Regional Health to open LaVenture Orthopedics Clinic

On Monday, May 4, Skagit Regional Health will open LaVenture Orthopedics Clinic in the previous location of Skagit Northwest Orthopedics.

In a Thursday news release, Regional Vice President of Clinic Operations Justin Oram said, "Opening this clinic strengthens our ability to meet the community's orthopedic needs while advancing our mission to provide ‘exceptional healthcare, always."

The news release also said the location is ideal because it provides space for future expansion of rehabilitation services on the building's second floor.

Skagit YMCA awarded Rural Community Grant

The Skagit Valley Family YMCA announced this past week that it had been awarded $2,500 from AgWest Farm Credit's Rural Community Grant program.

The funds went towards the YMCA's Burlington Early Learning Center for the installation of new fencing and improvements to its toddler playground.

In an April 23 news release, Burlington Early Learning Center Director Makenzi Upper said, "We've already seen what a big difference the new fence and leveled playground have made in our toddler space.

"The children now have more room to play, explore, and move safely. Before these improvements, the space felt smaller, and the slight hill often caused the toddlers to lose their balance. Now that the playground is all one level, it's much more versatile and toddler-friendly."
