2 Scary Carnival Accidents a Continent Apart Go Viral on the Same Day

Perhaps there's a reason why carnival rides get a bad rap. There's almost always a constant flow of bad news coming out of festivals all around the world, particularly with rides malfunctioning and causing havoc.

Take last week, for example.

ABC 7 in Los Angeles aired footage of a ride that malfunctioned at the popular "Feria de Abril" (or April Festival) in Seville, Spain. The terrifying video shows the moment a slingshot ride snapped mid-air, leaving four people injured.

The slingshot capsule reportedly landed on a steel support structure on the side. It's reported that four people suffered minor injuries, including two children.

Local authorities soon launched an investigation.

Less than 24 hours after ABC 7 aired that footage, reports out of Brazil were that 11 people, including three children, were injured when a carnival ride they were riding on suddenly collapsed.

A woman in southern Brazil captured the frightening footage, which quickly went viral.

According to reports, the "Tower" ride at a carnival in Guaiba, Brazil, collapsed, prompting local authorities to ban the ride.
