Kind Bearded Dragon ‘Checks On' Family Puppy Like a Scaly Hall Monitor
As someone with both a Bearded Dragon and a dog, I can confirm that they are the most underrated duo of the century. My Bearded Dragon loves to be all up in everyone's business! We even moved her in front of the window so she can people-watch all day long!
Apparently, she's not the only one. When one family got a new puppy, their Bearded Dragon decided he was all over it. That's his puppy now, and it's his job to check on her accordingly. He's doing a great job:
@mushuandmabel could he do this when the house is clean? of course not #beardeddragonsoftiktok#beardeddragon#beardiesoftiktok#beardeddragons#mabelandmushu

Mushu and Mabel are taking on the world together, and it's perfect. I love how quickly Mushu jumps off the puppy stairs at the beginning: my Bearded Dragon loves to do that, too. It scares me every time! No one prepares you for how fast these things move!
Mushu checks two spots for Mabel. First, he checks a pile of blankets, because she likes to burrow there. Then he checks her pen... and she's not there! Shock! Awe! She was perfectly safe, of course. She was just going potty outside, but Mushu was not having it.

Mabel is a mini Dachshund puppy, and from the looks of it, she has no idea that her Bearded Dragon brother isn't also a dog. She probably just thinks he looks a little weird! She's really confused about why he won't play with her toy, though:

As she gets older, she's only going to get more curious about Mushu. He spends most of his time out and about; you can see in this clip that he has a cute little couch in the window where he likes to lounge. He has a proper basking spot, but they don't bask all the time.
Bearded Dragons Are Naturally Curious
Bearded Dragons are not for the faint of heart: they genuinely want to be involved in everything, and they love to roam around. They can't sit still!
Their natural curiosity is something you can lean into and use to your advantage to keep them entertained. They love to explore things, especially when there are different textures involved. You'll also notice that they lick around a lot: that's how they get information about their surroundings.
If you want to do something fun with your Bearded Dragon, you could try:
- Taking them outside.
- Setting up a "food trail" for them to follow.
- Bring them somewhere with different textures than they usually see.
Keep an eye on them at all times, though. As you can clearly see with Mushu, these lizards move faster than you might think!
