One man's trash can truly be another man's treasure, and this funny cat video proves it.

In a viral moment that will have you rolling on the floor laughing, one very patient kitty is literally waiting her turn to sit on a piece of cardboard.

This video shows just how much cats love cardboard (and how seriously they take comfort with it).

If you've ever spent money on an expensive cat bed only for them to sit in the box it came in, this video will feel quite accurate.

Why Cats Are Obsessed With Cardboard (Yes, Really)

That must be one comfy piece of cardboard!

Do they just like cardboard because it's funny when we catch them sleeping on it?

Turns out there's actually some strong evidence as to cats and box obsessions.

A study by PLOS One found that kitties who came to a Dutch animal shelter for the first time used cardboard boxes given to them for comfort, which helped them adapt faster to their new surroundings.

A cardboard box, even one with plastic on top, provides emotional protection that can help reduce stress, especially if you have a stressed or anxious cat.

Also, if your fur baby has a bit of social anxiety around new people or their fellow dog siblings, a box provides a great place to hide.

Cardboard boxes or boxes of any kind also bring out the cat's inner hunter.

Felines have always been hunters, and part of their strategy is to sit and wait and hide while they stalk their prey.

Even if they aren't really hunting anything, as they're domesticated cats living in a house, hiding in a box can still provide emotional enrichment.

And then, of course, there's the fact that a cardboard box is fun to scratch and chew on for the cat, as is the plastic.

Then, at the end of the day, there is just the adage that kitties are plain curious, so why wouldn't they check out a box?

Now it makes sense why there is a 47-minute wait period for this box, and it makes for one funny cat video.
