SBA to help with disaster loans in Cathlamet, Kelso
The U.S. Small Business Administration is holding temporary pop-up events in Cowlitz and Wahkiakum counties this week to help businesses and private nonprofit staff apply for disaster loans.

Small businesses and nonprofits in both counties affected by the severe storms in December are eligible to apply for low-interest federal disaster loans.
SBA staff will be in Cathlamet from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Friday at the Elochoman Slough Marina, 500 Second St., then in Kelso from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the next day at the Kelso-Longview Chamber of Commerce, 105 N. Minor Rd.
President Donald Trump approved a disaster declaration April 7 for the storms that occurred Dec. 5-19, which caused flooding, landslides and other damage across much of Western Washington.
Businesses and nonprofits are eligible to apply for economic injury disaster loans, which can be used to pay bills that went unpaid because of the disaster. Organizations do not need to have sustained physical storm damage to qualify.
Cowlitz and Wahkiakum counties' businesses and nonprofits are not eligible to apply for physical damage loans, which cover property damaged or destroyed by a disaster.
Applications are available online at sba.gov/disaster.
