Darrell Sheets of 'Storage Wars' Dies at 67, Just Hours After Being Seen Happy

Darrell Sheets, one of the most beloved personalities from A&E's Storage Wars, has died at 67.

Lake Havasu Police in Arizona confirmed his death after responding to his home Tuesday following a call about a deceased individual. Sheets had been photographed just hours earlier - around 5 p.m. - at his antique shop in Lake Havasu, where witnesses described him as upbeat, friendly and happy. The news of his sudden passing shocked fans and those who had encountered him that same day.

Sheets had relocated to Lake Havasu after stepping away from Storage Wars, where he became one of the show's most recognizable and beloved figures, nicknamed "The Gambler" for his high-risk bidding style and encyclopedic knowledge of antiques. After leaving the show, he opened Havasu Show Me Your Junk, a store where locals and fans could still find him doing what he loved - hunting for hidden treasures and sharing his larger-than-life personality with anyone who walked through the door.

Darrell Sheets' Career

Sheets was a fixture on Storage Wars from its earliest seasons, becoming famous for his willingness to take enormous risks on storage units that others passed on - and occasionally striking gold. His booming laugh, his son Brandon by his side, and his unshakeable confidence made him one of the show's most entertaining and enduring personalities.

In March 2019, Sheets was hospitalized after suffering a heart attack and underwent surgery. He recovered and continued to run his shop in Lake Havasu, where he remained a familiar and beloved presence until the end.

He was 67.
