If you keep catnip on hand for your cats, you already know the effect it can have. It gives them a temporary "high" that lasts anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes and leaves them completely relaxed. But TikToker Teetee (@beautysredemption) recently discovered that one of her three cats took things a little too far, and the result is priceless.

That cat is Marley, a British Shorthair who is clearly feeling every bit of his catnip snack. As Teetee scolds him, Marley is sprawled right in the middle of the scattered catnip; evidence enough that he's the one who found it. He can barely move, he hasn't blinked once, and it's pretty clear he has no idea what's going on around him!

Teetee's commentary was funny, and we laughed when she started calling the cats out about the catnip...it sounds like Hershey might've had a little too much of a good thing, too!

How Much Catnip is Too Much?

You might be wondering if cats can have too much catnip after watching Marely's reaction to it. Cats cannot overdose on catnip, but too much of it may cause vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, or trouble walking, according to PetMD.

PetMD also recommends using no more than 1 tablespoon of catnip at a time, as more may be too much for your cat. They also note that fresh catnip is more potent than dried, so you won't need to give your cat as much of it. You can pinch off a piece of one leaf, but no more than about a teaspoon of it.

When in doubt, a quick call to your vet is always the best way to find out the right amount of catnip for your cat.
