A dachshund's commitment to sunbathing has left viewers on social media in stitches after her owner caught her stretched out belly-up on the lawn, soaking in the spring sunshine like a seasoned holidaymaker.

The short, candid clip-posted to TikTok on April 14-has struck a chord with viewers, amassing more than 1 million views and over 176,000 likes as audiences marvel at the dog's total dedication to doing absolutely nothing.

Shared by the canine’s Georgia-based owner under @life.with.the.wee, the video shows the dachshund-described as being one of six in the account’s bio-lying in the middle of a garden, flat on her back, legs loose, eyes closed, looking entirely at ease in direct sunlight. Overlaid text captures the mood succinctly: “Just a girl working on her tan.”

The scene plays out to No Doubt's “Just a Girl,” performed by Gwen Stefani, a song choice that has become a familiar and viral shorthand on TikTok for playful moments.

The clip quickly prompted a flood of amused and affectionate responses from viewers on the platform, many of them fellow dachshund owners who recognized the behavior immediately.

“As a dachshund owner I can confirm they are solar powered,” one viewer commented, capturing a recurring theme in the replies.

Others leaned into the culinary comparisons the breed often inspires.

“Who doesn't love grilled sausages,” one viewer joked, while another added: “That hot dog is well done.”

A third commented: “Perfectly roasted.”

The canine's position in the middle of the lawn also drew laughs, with one person observing simply: “Hahaha in the middle of the yard.”

Some comments were less about jokes and more about deep familiarity with dachshund habits.

“We have a piebald,” one viewer shared. “Her belly is snow white in the winter but on the first sunny spring day she's out working on her tan and by the end of summer, she has a majorly speckled, freckled belly. Then it fades again during the winter.”

Others echoed the tenderness of the moment, calling it “too flipping adorable” or admiring the canine “tanning that sweet belly.”

There was also a sense that the video captured something universally understood: the joy of doing nothing in the warmth.

“We know that power nap hits,” one commenter wrote, while another dubbed the dog a “little baked bean,” a phrase that quickly found favor among fellow viewers.
