Netflix Quietly Adding 12 New Episodes of Popular Series

One Piece viewers who want to see more of the hit series on Netflix are able to get their wish, because the streaming network is adding more than 12 new episodes to their offerings soon.

Netflix is receiving more episodes of the popular anime series starting on May 1, according to a report from What's on Netflix and CBR. The new episodes include Part 4 of the Whole Cake Island Arc, episodes 823 through 835. But, the streaming network hasn't revealed the exact number of episodes being added, because Whole Cake Island runs through Part 8, ending at Episode 891.

When Are More Episodes of One Piece Coming to Netflix?

The new episodes will arrive on Netflix in the United States on Friday, May 1. At least a dozen new shows will be available for streaming, but it could end up being more than that. The network has yet to confirm exactly how many new episodes will be available for viewing.

What Is One Piece About?

So, what is One Piece about? According to a description from Netflix, it's "an epic saga of adventure on the high seas" that "follows the adventures of Luffy, an enthusiastic young man with the singular aspiration of becoming King of the Pirates."

"A cultural phenomenon with millions of passionate fans around the globe, One Piece is an expansive ongoing story about a group of misfits with a dream of joining together to become Luffy's loyal crew, the Straw Hats," the network adds of the show.

As of April 2026, One Piece has released more than 1,150 episodes, so it would take 19 to 20 days of non-stop, 24-hour viewing to watch all of it. If you're watching just a handful of episodes day, it would take you more than a year to finish the shows.

"Given its immense length, most audiences would feel intimidated to jump into the One Piece anime from the very beginning," CBR adds of the show. "The One Piece episode count is vast and still growing, with the conclusion approaching very slowly on the distant horizon."

According to research from IGN, "There are currently 15 feature length One Piece movies you can watch alongside the anime series. The movie stories are not connected to the series, and therefore aren't canon. But the stories are built around canon characters and offer an opportunity to learn more about the world of the Straw Hat Pirates."

If you have yet to try watching One Piece and have a Netflix subscription, the good news is that you can watch episodes of the show now, before the fresh ones drop on May 1.
