Level Up in family fun at a new mini golf and game center in Walla Walla

There's a new home for mini golf and other family-friendly games in Walla Walla.

A new business, Level Up Walla Walla, has moved into the building previously occupied by Divots, a virtual golf simulator business.

Owner Brianna Andrews and her husband and family moved to Walla Walla recently from San Diego, California.

Andrews said she and her husband wanted to bring some fun to Walla Walla that sometimes isn't found in smaller cities.

About a year ago, they opened "Walla Walla Party Box," which is a trailer customers can rent that is loaded with big TVs, speakers and karaoke equipment.

Andrews said that business is going well, but they wanted to do something else, as well.

"We've been here a couple of years, and we've been wanting to start something that was very family friendly, kid friendly," she said. "I knew Divots was looking to close down and wanted somebody to take over. And so we thought, perfect opportunity."

Mini golf came to mind, she said, because it's indoors and can run in all seasons.

But Level Up is more than just mini golf.

"We have 18 mini putt putt holes, so yeah, that is one attraction you can do here," she said. "We also have a bunch of flat-screen TVs inside. We show different sports games and events. Like, March Madness was just going on."

There's also lots of other games visitors can play.

"So, there's pool, foosball, shuffleboard, ping pong and air hockey," she said.

They also have some less common games.

Putt billiards is a small mini golf rectangle set up like a pool table, fully equipped with golf balls painted like pool balls.

In another game, you walk on an even larger, life-sized pool table where all the balls are soccer balls, and you play pool games with your feet.

Level Up serves snack bar-style food and drinks, including beer and wine for adults.

Andrews said she and her husband, having young children, wanted to provide something fun for families and children that didn't yet exist in Walla Walla.

"I think just coming from a big city, you have so many different things to do and so many different places that open up," she said. "And so, I think it just gave us little ideas from different places we've been and was like, 'Oh, that's kind of cool.'"
