Meet Kwickly, a 12-week-old Staffordshire Terrier puppy who's still figuring out the world around him. There's a cute video where he discovers that his new toy squeaks, and his reaction is almost too cute to handle. He's playful, curious, and full of personality, as you'll see in this adorable clip that his pawrents recently shared.

Mom gave Kwickly a new object to investigate: a chunk of carrot. Watch as he tries to decide whether the little orange "ball" is a toy or a snack. In the end, it seems like he's pretty sure it might be both!

These Memories - Hollow Coves

We always love seeing baby animals exploring the world because everything is so new and exciting to them! Our Pit Bull mix is just over 2 years old and still does the same thing Kwickly does occasionally when we give her veggie treats, and it still makes us smile every time!

Healthy Treats for Puppies

When it comes to treating a new puppy, fruits and veggies can be a great option. Unlike store-bought treats, you know exactly what you're giving them and what's in them. As Petco explains, "By offering fresh produce as occasional dog treats, you're providing a healthy addition to your pet's diet, rather than simply filling them up with less nutritious snacks."

The Petco article also listed some safe snacks to try with your puppy. They can be served raw or cooked, hot or cold. Since you give them such small pieces, a whole apple or sweet potato can make several tasty (and inexpensive!) treats!

Some safe snack ideas to try:

  • Lettuce
  • Apples
  • Bananas
  • Blueberries
  • Pineapple
  • Raspberries
  • Watermelon
  • Broccoli
  • Carrots
  • Cooked potatoes
  • Cooked pumpkin
  • Cooked sweet potatoes
  • Green beans
  • Peas
  • Zucchini
  • Strawberries
  • Oranges
  • Cucumbers
  • Celery
  • Mango
  • Corn
  • Peaches
  • Cantaloupe
  • Pears
  • Asparagus
  • Cauliflower
  • Spinach

Don't forget to remove seeds and stems, and have fun experimenting to find your dog's favorites!
