Janicki Industries announces growth plan

Skagit County-based engineering and manufacturing company Janicki Industries announced plans to expand through new and expanded facilities totaling 270,000 square feet and creating about 250 new jobs within the state and in Utah.

Within northwestern Washington, Janicki is doing the following:

* Purchased and is renovating a 40,000-square-foot facility in Mount Vernon, which will add 75 jobs

* Completing construction on a 162,000-square-foot facility at its Hamilton campus

* Expanding its Bellingham facility with updated machinery and anticipates 125 new jobs

Meanwhile, in Utah, Janicki's 100,000-square-foot manufacturing location north of Salt Lake City will receive a 70,000-square-foot expansion, adding 50 new jobs.

Groundbreaking is expected to begin in early summer.

In addition, Janicki is actively evaluating whether to add manufacturing operations in Idaho or Montana, potentially building about 2 million square feet of facility space.

Sedron receives $500 million investment

Sedron Technologies, an industry innovator based in Sedro-Woolley, has secured a $500 million investment to accelerate the development of technology to upcycle biosolids and manure.

The investment will support Sedron's Varcor technology. This system recovers reusable water and fertilizer from liquid waste, operating with 10 times less energy than alternatives while reducing waste disposal needs.

Ara Partners, a global private equity and infrastructure firm, provided the investment. The firm focuses on industrial decarbonization.

This funding will help Sedron develop projects faster and expand its manufacturing and deployment across the continent.

In an April news release, Sedron CEO Geoff Trukenbrod said, "Ara's investment gives us the capital and long-term partner we need to build projects faster, expand manufacturing, and bring Varcor systems to more communities and farms that are looking for practical, economically viable and lower-carbon alternatives to traditional waste management."
