HelloFresh Issues Brutal Response to Trump DoorDash Moment

HelloFresh, the subscription-based meal kit delivery service, has poked fun at President Donald Trump in the wake of the staged DoorDash photo-op at the Oval Office.

On Monday, Trump had Sharon Simmons, a 56-year-old Arkansas grandmother, deliver DoorDash to the White House as part of an effort to promote the president's "no tax on tips" policy.

The focus of the event was supposed to be the claim Simmons saved an extra $11,000 in gratuities as a result of the policy. However, the furor over Trump's comments about the Pope, coupled with the controversy over an image Trump posted to Truth Social, appearing to depict the president as Jesus, overshadowed events. The photo-op itself also drew questions over its authenticity, to the point DoorDash ultimately issued a statement defending the event.

Now HelloFresh has weighed in with a post shared to Instagram mocking the Trump DoorDash event. In a text-based post, HelloFresh issued an "official statement" that reads: "We considered dropping off a HelloFresh box at a very famous house (painted white)… but we didn't want to overwhelm anyone with ‘step 1: preheat oven.'"

Why It Matters

The HelloFresh Instagram post has been liked over 15,000 times, with hundreds of social media users taking to the comments section to applaud the company's takedown of the president.

While Trump has often been a divisive figure, recent weeks have seen his approval rating slump to all-time-lows. With the Iran war still ongoing and the cost of living on the rise, the DoorDash event was supposed to represent a win for the Trump administration. This HelloFresh post, and the general response to the DoorDash event, has been negative though.

What To Know

"We'll stick to what we do best," HelloFresh wrote in the caption accompanying the post. The Instagram post drew responses from a wide range of recognized figures and brands on the platform.

Musician and entrepreneur Piper Phillips approved of the post, writing "Oh hell yeah" alongside it. Cookware company Our Place chimed in with the comment: "Our Wonder Oven is one of the easiest kitchen tools to use… but even that might be a little overwhelming in that big (white) house."

Maggie With The Dogs, a dog mom and foster carer with over 80,000 followers, wrote: "Hmmm might reactivate my HelloFresh account," in response, while content creator @underthedesknews quipped: "ok… guess we are restarting our subscription."

Anna Przy, another content creator, wrote: "Ok I'm a HelloFresh STANNNNNN," while chef Alfredo Garcia commented: "I AM LIVING FOR THIS!!!!" Digital creator Ashlee Rose Hartley, meanwhile, wrote: "A brand I can get behind partnering with helllll yeah," while teaching resource creator @brittanyjeltema said: "I knew I loved HelloFresh for a reason."

The positive comments around the post serve as a stark contrast to the responses the original DoorDash event generated and highlight how Trump remains on shaky ground with many Americans.
