Woman Buys Face Paint From Farm, Then Has ‘Genius' Realization
A TikTok video of a woman applying makeup has gone viral, amassing 2.6 million views as viewers react to her unexpected beauty discovery.
The clip, posted by user Keeley (@keelsmobeels), shows her dipping a makeup brush into water before rubbing it onto a palette containing a skin‑toned shade. She then applies the product to her face and over a tattoo on her arm, demonstrating its coverage.
She explains in the caption: "[I] jokingly bought a £1 ($1.36) face paint from a farm [market] and think I've accidentally found the foundation of the year."
Her caption reads, "I think I'm actually a genius," and has racked up nearly 83,000 likes at the time of writing.
The idea of using a face paint that costs less than $2 has caught viewers' attention, especially given the rising cost of beauty products. According to Amazon, foundation prices range from 99 cents to $99.99 depending on the brand.
A 2024 survey conducted by Advanced Dermatology, an aesthetic and medical dermatology practice in the North Shore, found that women spend an average of $37 per month on makeup.
Overall, women spend $1,064 per year on beauty products. For some, these costs are difficult to manage-one in six respondents admitted they spend more on beauty and wellness than they can afford.
TikTok Reacts
While many viewers were impressed by the coverage shown in the video, others expressed concern about how the face paint might behave on the skin throughout the day.
"If its face paint it will dry out your face super fast," one user warned.
Another wrote: "Coverage doesn't not equal good. You could dip your brush in Sudocrem and get a nice blank white base."
A third commenter said: “I'm [actually] impressed.”
"I face paint professionally and whilst I don't use much Snazaroo anymore smaz is quite breathable for full face application and is mostly useful for bases so as long as you don't mind a slightly chalky feeling to your base it won't be that bad and would probs blend with powdered makeup layers quite well,” wrote a fourth commenter.
Newsweek reached out to Snazaroo for a comment. We could not verify the details.
Others were more skeptical. "Absolutely not, it dries matte but it will also start cracking and crumbling off as you move your face. I use this to blackout my neck, I wear it often. Also, it will transfer onto other people’s clothing and drip when you sweat," one person said.
The following day, Keeley shared another video applying the paint and then documenting her day. In total, she states the paint stayed on her face for 11 hours and she rated it 7.5 out of 10.
