Why Keegan-Michael Key Had 5 Lookalikes With Him at the Yankees Game

Keegan-Michael Key is guaranteed to trigger laughs. Perhaps even a double-take. After all, he's a major celebrity.

But it's a whole other thing when you spot him at a New York Yankees game with five uncanny lookalikes in tow!

That's exactly what went down during Monday night's game at Yankee Stadium. The hilarious comedian showed up in a bright yellow shirt with five lookalikes with him, no doubt prompting plenty of double-takes.

The group sat behind home plate wearing matching yellow shirts. They high-fived and hugged each other. They also snacked together while walking the famed stadium's concourse.

But why?

Keegan-Michael Key Back in Character

The Key & Peele star was in full character mode as part of his partnership with Ore-Ida, the inventor of Tater Tots.

As part of the campaign, Key promotes the brand as the inventor of Tater Tots, adding that anyone else is an imi-tater imitator. Just then, Key transforms into a series of exaggerated "imi-taters" -- from a grizzled sea captain to a Gen Z influencer.

The spot's hilarious, but it also marks Key's reunion with Peter Atencio, who directed Key and Jordan Peele in the Comedy Central sketch comedy series that ran for five seasons from 2012 to 2015.
