Shirley and Heinz Schulz
Shirley and Heinz Schulz celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 11 with family and friends at Life Church 7 in Richland.
They met at Bethany College in Santa Cruz, Calif., and were married May 29, 1966, at the Church of the Nazarene in Santa Cruz. They moved to the Mid-Columbia from Twin Falls, Idaho, in 1977.
Shirley was a paraeducator for the Kennewick School District for 30 years before retiring in September 2008. She was president of the Public School Employees, received two presidential leadership awards and was a life member of PSE. She also volunteers at Life Church in guest services.
Heinz traveled for work for 15 years. He worked for Union Local #598 and retired from Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in January 2009.
He likes to travel, garden and paint. She likes music and reading books. They both enjoy traveling, walking at the mall, drinking coffee with friends, and they love spending time with their grandchildren.
They have three children: Heidi Waggoner of Kennewick, Doug Schulz of Richland and Susan Kiesel of Hilmar, Calif.
They have seven grandchildren.
