Chiawana High student receives Eagle Scout Award

Chiawana High School student Camerin Alexander received Scouting’s highest honor April 23 at West Highlands United Methodist Church in Kennewick.

Alexander is a member of Troop 126, which is chartered by West Highlands Methodist Church and whose Scout leader is Robert Lindsay.

To earn the Eagle Scout Award, Alexander first had to earn 21 merit badges and then show leadership by planning, developing and completing a community service project.

For his community project, Alexander and his troop folded 600 pocket-sized American flags and delivered them overseas with special messages of thanks. That project was is partnership with Washington’s Operation Thanks You. The project took 175 hours to complete.

Besides Scouting, Alexander is involved with the Tri-Tech Skills Center welding program and volunteers with the Pasco Jaycees.

Alexander plans to attend Columbia Basin College after graduating high school, then transferring to a university to study engineering.
