Awards & Achievements for Oct. 25
▪ Andrew L. Keillor received the rank of Eagle Scout on Aug. 30 at Christ the King Catholic Church Gathering Space. Scout Master Dave Smith officiated. Fellow Eagles Colby Richards, Joshua Pollard, Shane Hill and Jonathon Smith, along with Life Scout Ryan Smith, assisted in the ceremony. Grandmother Dorothy Keillor performed the invocation.
Andrew is the son of retired Lt. Col. Martin and Kathryn Keillor of Richland. He is a junior at Hanford High School. He hopes to attend the University of Washington to major in bio-mechanical engineering with a goal of building prosthetic limbs.
▪ Jalen DeVine of Richland was selected as a scholar athlete for the 2014-15 school year at the University of Redlands in California. To qualify for this honor, one must have lettered in at least one intercollegiate sport, while maintaining a minimum of a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average.
DeVine, the son of Jennie and Denny DeVine of Richland, is a 2013 graduate of Hanford High School, Richland.
▪ Jennifer Hesse, a German teacher at Richland High School, presented a workshop at the Washington Foreign Language Teachers Conference earlier this month in Wenatchee on the power of choice.

▪ Ashley Hennessey and Hailey Cross, both of Kennewick, have been awarded Presidential Scholarships of $3,000 each to Eastern Washington University for the 2015-16 academic year.
This scholarship is awarded to students with high school grade-point averages of 3.8 or higher, and SAT scores of at least 1250 or ACT scores of at least 28.
Hennesey graduated from Southridge High School in June and is studying occupational therapy at EWU.
At Southridge, Hennesey was involved in Buddy Club, Healing Hearts, and was a Life Skills assistant. She was also a part of the National Honor Society and Key Club.
Ashley is the daughter of Jennifer and Jeff Hennessey of Kennewick.
Cross also graduated from Southridge High School in June.
At Southridge High, Cross was a varsity dance team member, as well as the first female to wrestle and make it to post-season. She had a cumulative GPA of 3.91.
At EWU, Cross plans to work toward a master’s of science degree in nursing, and wants to become an OB/GYN nurse practitioner.
Hailey is the daughter of Emily Estes-Cross and Steve Cross.
