Rotary International has awarded Mary Gadeken of Kennewick with the 2014-15 Rotarian Spouse Service Award.
The international service organization awards up to 100 of the awards worldwide each year to recognize spouses and partners of Rotarians who have demonstrated exemplary humanitarian services through Rotary International.
Gadeken, nominated by Rotary District 5080, is the wife of Columbia Center Rotarian Arlan Gadeken.
During the course of her husband’s membership, Gadeken has hand made and sold more than 400 necklaces with beads from across the globe, earning thousands of dollars, which she has donated to the club.
In addition, she was a participant of the club’s 2012 medical mission to Karaikal, India, and has served the club by managing ticket sales, assisting at work parties and attending Rotary conventions with her husband.
“At every chance, Mary shares the Rotary International mission,” said Janine Swailes, Columbia Center Rotary Club president. “Though not a member herself, she is a true ambassador.”
