Anniversaries: Karen and Bob Vanderbilt
Karen Poe and Bob Vanderbilt celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Feb. 3. They will further celebrate with a picnic this summer.
Karen is a lifelong resident of Connell and Bob moved to Connell with his family when he was a junior in high school.
They attended Washington State University. After graduation, Karen taught home economics in Lewiston, Idaho, and Bob taught elementary school in Clarkston.
Karen and Bob were married on Feb. 3, 1968, at the Connell United Methodist Church.
They returned to Connell in 1970, and Bob taught school in Basin City and Karen stayed home to raise the children. After school and on Saturdays, Bob worked for the Ed Poe Agency for two years before going full time with the company. He has been with the agency for 48 years.
Karen and Bob are members of the Connell United Methodist Church.
They enjoyed watching their children and grandchildren grow up in Connell, and they enjoy traveling.
They have two children, Robb (Helenka) Vanderbilt and Kara (Eric) Mauseth.
They have four grandchildren.
