Nellie and Loy Sutton

Nellie and Loy Sutton, of Richland, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Aug. 12 with family.

They met while attending Yakima Valley College and were married on June 15, 1957, at the First Baptist Church in Yakima. They moved to Georgia while Loy served in the Army, then to Spokane where Loy finished his teaching degree and finally to Richland for his teaching career. Loy taught junior high school English and driver’s education to many students in the Richland School District, retiring with 30 years of service in 1991.

Nellie was a homemaker until 1976, when she went to work for Energy Northwest (WPPSS) in the accounting department. She retired in 2001.

Loy enjoyed golfing for 20 years after retiring. Nellie and Loy both enjoy bowling and belong to the Atomic Senior Bowling League. The have traveled to Europe and many places within the U.S.

They have two children, Brenda (Chuck) Tallent of Vancouver and Scott (Sandy) Sutton of Broomfield, Colo.

They have four grandchildren.
