About 500 acres burned in an early season wildfire Wednesday in Webber Canyon near Benton City.

Fire managers are hoping to contain it late Wednesday, according to the Bureau of Land Management.

There are no evacuation orders or threats to residential areas. The cause is under investigation.

Fire managers from the Bureau of Land Management and Benton County fire departments are working through a unified command to contain the Webber Canyon Fire south of Benton City.

Firefighters were dispatched to the fire about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

A bulldozer and air support were called to help control the blaze.

Multiple municipal fire departments and the Department of Natural Resources are also assisting as well as personnel from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the BLM.
