Franklin County offering Christmas tree recycling

Christmas tree permits are available for the Umatilla National Forest.

Franklin County will be accepting Christmas trees for recylcing from Dec. 26 through Jan. 17 at a single drop-off location.

Bring your Christmas tree — cleaned of all ornaments and tinsel — to the Tri-Cities Cross County Running Course, north of Pasco Golf Land on Road 36 in Pasco, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Trees will be chipped at a later date free of charge.

The wood chips will then be spread on the running path to improve the surface.
