Slow West is the Battelle Film Club’s second movie of its spring lineup.

This 2015 Western has an outlaw escorting a Scottish immigrant West to reconnect with the love of his life. It took the World Cinema Jury Prize: Dramatic Winner at Sundance. High praise for a film with a title that perfectly fits the speed in which the story is told. Slow. And in spots, too slow.

First time writer/director John Maclean’s cinematography and the equally excellent acting of Jodi Smit-McPhee and Michael Fassbender make the slowness forgivable.

The movie plays at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 5 at Battelle Auditorium, 902 Battelle Blvd., Richland. Tickets are $4 for adults and $2 for children. Series passes are $14. Tickets are available at the door.
