You wouldn’t think an 80-minute tour of a cemetery and its history would be something that could rivet you to your seat. One Million Dubliners does. There is an incredible amount of life in this wonderful documentary about the final resting place of the dead.

Glasnevin Cemetery in Dublin, Ireland, houses the remains of more than one million people. The city and the surrounding area has about a half-million more residents than the dead in the cemetery. Director Aoife Kelleher follows guide Shane MacThomais and others on a fascinating tour of the site and its many famous, infamous and unknowns buried there. Kelleher peels the layers of the cemetery’s story off a bit at a time and from angles most of us would never think about.

And the film ends with a shocking revelation that leaves you sadly empty but — ironically — it somehow is a fitting climax that also takes the film full circle.

Showtime is 7:30 p.m. at the Battelle Auditorium on the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory campus in Richland.

Cost is $4 for adults and $2 for kids. A series ticket is $16. For more information, go to tricityfilmclub.org.
