‘Roots of Wisdom’ exhibit opens Feb. 6 at Tamástslikt institute in Pendleton

The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry exhibit Roots of Wisdom: Native Knowledge. Shared Science opens today at the Tamástslikt Cultural Institute in Pendleton.

Admission is free for the day. The exhibit runs through May 2.

It shows “how native communities are using their traditional knowledge in conjunction with cutting-edge science to successfully address some of the most pressing issues facing society today,” according to information from the cultural institute. The interactive exhibit includes video, graphics and games. It’s especially aimed at families and youths ages 11 to 14.

The ArtWORKz 2015 junior art show also runs at the Tamástslikt gallery through Feb. 28. It includes nearly 100 submissions from artists under the age of 19 from the region and beyond. An awards reception is 1 p.m. Feb. 14 and is open to the public.

Tamástslikt Cultural Institute is at 47106 Wildhorse Blvd.
