Reverse glass artist to be featured May 28 at Reach event
An emerging reverse glass artist will be featured May 28 at the Reach center’s ELEMENTS: Spring event.
Whitney McMillin of Kennewick will be on hand during the STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) family learning event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Her unique style involves painting on the back of glass.
“For over two years, I have developed a use of stencils, creating my own paints (mainly metallic) and a love for using recycled products including recycled glass. I will occasionally buy new but recycled is always my preference. I start with geometric patterns, then the rest of the piece just evolves,” she said in a news release.
At this point in her life, “art is my passion,” she said. “I have thousands of images in my head waiting to be applied to a medium.”
The ELEMENTS event also will include science experiments, interactive performances with the Mid-Columbia Ballet, art projects, live cooking demonstrations and more.
Cost is $4 for adults and $3 for military, seniors and students. Reach members and children 5 and younger will be admitted for free.
The Reach is at 1943 Columbia Park Trail.
