HAPO Community Credit Union announces 2016 summer fun lineup

From outdoor concerts in Richland to hydroplane races on the Columbia River, HAPO Community Credit Union once again has a hand in some of the Tri-Cities’ most popular summertime activities.

Dubbed the “official sponsor of summer,” the credit union on Wednesday morning announced its 2016 lineup of summer fun.

HAPO has deep roots in the Tri-City area, and “the summertime is a great time for us to be able to showcase our impact in the community, and be able to do it with a lot of great partners,” said Steve Anderson, HAPO president and CEO.

“We’re looking forward to another great summer,” he said.

Here’s the lineup of events HAPO is sponsoring this summer:

▪  Free Ice Cream Fridays at noon Fridays from June through August at the HAPO Business Complex in Kennewick. The Little Red Ice Cream Truck and Power 99.1 will be on hand giving out the cool treats.

▪  Live@5 summer concert series at 5 p.m. Thursdays from June 2 to July 28 at the new HAPO Community Stage at John Dam Plaza in Richland.

The bands Crashwurx, Troublemaker, VooDoo Alley, 3rd Date, My Favorite Toy, Stompin Ground, Colorblind, Groove Principal and Fallout are set to perform.

▪  Cool Desert Nights car and motorcycle show, June 23-26 at the Uptown Shopping Center in Richland. This year’s event will include a new feature — outhouse races down George Washington Way on June 25.

▪  Grand Old Fourth Parade, July 4 in Pasco.

▪  River of Fire Festival, July 4 at Columbia Park in Kennewick. The event features the largest fireworks display of its kind in Eastern Washington, plus activities for kids, live music, food and more.

▪  2016 HAPO Columbia Cup and “Over the River” airshow, July 29-31 at Columbia Park in Kennewick. Unlimited hydroplanes will take over the water and a variety of aeronautical entertainment — from the Patriots Jet Team to Lucas Oil Acrobatics will take over the skies overhead.

HAPO also is sponsoring events in Sunnyside, Yakima, Hermiston and Walla Walla.
