Want a taste of Broadway without the expense of a trip to New York City?

The Tri-City youth show choir Forte! plans a spring concert filled with show tunes.

Forte! On Broadway is May 13-14 in Kennewick.

The auditioned choir draws teens from across the Mid-Columbia.

They’ve spent months rehearsing for the latest concert, which will include medleys from My Fair Lady, Aladdin and Once On This Island.

The show choir members not only sing, but also dazzle with dance on stage.

They’ve worked hard learning authentic Polynesian dance from choreographer Julie Adams for the Once On This Island numbers.

“The choir members are really building strength and grace in these story-telling movements. Julie is teaching them that each movement, even the way you shape your hands, evokes a different emotion or word. It is beautiful,” said Heather Hull Hart, artistic director, in a statement.

Performances of Forte! On Broadway are at 7 p.m. May 13 and at 2 and 7 p.m. May 14 in the auditorium at Kennewick High School, 500 S. Dayton St.

Along with Adams, Christine Riesenweber also created choreography.

The show features a backdrop, professional sound and lighting, and show choir costumes.

General admission tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and students. Reserved seating is $12 for adults and $10 for seniors and students.

A general admission group rate is $8 per person for groups of six or more.

Tickets are available at www.yourTCYC.com, at Tri-Cities Academy of Ballet and Music in Richland or at the door.
