AU Records in Richland plans Record Store Day activities April 16

Limited edition items and even some freebies will be available April 16 during Record Store Day at AU Records in Richland.

The shop is part of Adventures Underground in the Uptown Shopping Center.

A full house is expected.

On Record Store Day, “we get a ton of people lining up before we open. It’s a spectacle. It’s always a fun day,” said Logan Kaufman, co-owner.

Hours are from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Record Store Day dates back nearly a decade — a day to celebrate and support independent record stores.

The popular Adventures Underground has sold records for years, but last year it opened AU Records within the adjoining Caterpillar Café.

It carries everything from electronic to soul, country to hip-hop, folk to soundtracks to comedy albums.

The name isn’t just a nod to Adventures Underground, but also the chemical symbol for gold.

Kaufman said to expect limited edition items such as special Jimi Hendrix and Johnny Cash releases.

Some freebies also will be given away, from posters to T-shirts and goodie bags.

AU Records also will be selling new turntables from Pro-Ject Audio Systems.

Adventures Underground is at 1391 George Washington Way.
