Jazz combo, livetronica band to take Richland stage on April 8

The progressive jazz combo Still Guessing will perform April 8 at Emerald of Siam, 1314 Jadwin Ave., Richland.

The livetronica band Theoretics also will take the stage that night.

Music starts at 9 p.m. Cover is $5.

Still Guessing’s five members all study music at Whitworth University in Spokane. Two hail from the Tri-Cities — drummer Jansen Leggett and guitarist Denin Koch.

Others in the band are Max Bennett on sax, Jonathan Bumpus on trombone and King Dawidalle on bass.

“With their music, Still Guessing seeks to honor the rich heritage and tradition of jazz while exploring contemporary styles and modern sounds. They perform music as timeless as Charlie Parker and Benny Goodman and as fresh as Kanye West and the Gorillaz,” a news release said.

The band has performed with jazz greats including Ryan Keberle, Arturo Sandoval, Chris Potter and Pat Metheny.

Theoretics hails from Seattle. The band includes Art Brown on saxophone and iPad synthesizer, Cameron Peace on guitar and synthesizer, Birch Pereira on bass and synthesizer, Ben Kreulwich on electric piano and synthesizer and Adam Gross on drums and electronic drum pad.

The band makes energetic dance music using a variety of acoustic and electronic sounds.
