Battelle Film Club spring series kicks off Jan. 22 in Richland

Battelle Film Club’s spring series kicks off Jan. 22 with a British comedy.

All films begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Battelle Auditorium on the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory campus in Richland.

Cost is $4 for adults and $2 for kids, or $14 for all seven films. Admission is free for Washington State University Tri-Cities students.

Tickets are available at the door. Non-English films are subtitled.

Here’s the schedule:

▪  Jan. 22, Death at a Funeral. The 2007 British comedy follows Daniel, a dutiful son, who faces challenges while coordinating his father’s funeral.

▪  Feb. 5, Slow West. The 2015 action/thriller/western from the United Kingdom and New Zealand follows a Scottish teen’s travels across the 19th century American wilderness in the name of love.

▪  Feb. 19, Fill the Void. The 2012 Israeli drama tells of an 18-year-old Hasidic Jewish woman pressured into considering marriage to her widowed brother-in-law.

▪  March 4, Life Itself. The 2014 documentary centers on the late film critic Roger Ebert.

▪  April 15, Paprika. The 2006 animated mystery/science fiction film from Japan centers on three research psychologists who use a device that allows them to enter patients’ dreams.

▪  April 29, The Woman with the Five Elephants. The 2009 German documentary explores the life of an aging woman who translated great Russian literary works into German.

▪  May 6, The Hundred Year Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared. The 2013 Swedish adventure comedy is based on the novel by author Jonas Jonasson.
