Richland director Justin Frick drops new music video
Local directing wunderkind Justin Frick has released a new music video — for the insanely catchy Good Day by Tri-City rapper Medium, featuring Jai Kelli.
Check it out on Facebook and YouTube.
The video, shot largely in the Tri-Cities and Seattle, is fun, bright and energetic, and it features some notable cameos. The Seattle musician Wanz, who sang the hook on Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ hit Thrift Shop and co-produced Good Day, makes an appearance. So does the Hanford High School marching band.
Frick, 23, a Richland native who’s made a name for himself directing music videos for artists from The Spirit Animals to Tino Cruze, started making Good Day in October.
It was his most involved production yet, featuring a large cast and multiple locations and creative elements.
Animation from frequent collaborator Kyson Cartwright is a highlight.
“I think the animation is huge. It really brings it together,” Frick said.
Frick said he’s proud of the video and appreciates the support of the community and all those involved.
“One thing I’m proud of is the public came around and really had fun with it,” Frick said. “We were able to add a lot of elements, a lot of cool ideas.”
