Kennewick High grad’s short film accepted into festival

A short film produced, written by and starring former Tri-City man Ricky Russert has been accepted into the Richmond International Film Festival.

It’s also being considered for other festivals. The film, called SLLip — or “pills” spelled backward — follows Cam, a young husband and father who becomes addicted to painkillers after a workplace injury.

It’s available now through Vimeo at www.vimeo.com/ondemand/sllip.

Russert, a 2001 Kennewick High School graduate, has been finding success in Hollywood, with roles in projects from the TV show Banshee to Ride Along 2, which is due out this year.

He also has his own production company.
