Forte! will present Christmas variety show Dec. 4-5 in Kennewick

Forte! will get into the Christmas spirit next week with classics from Jingle Bell Rock to Feliz Navidad.

The Tri-City youth show choir also will perform some newer holiday fare, such as White Winter Hymnal by Fleet Foxes and Peppermint Winter by Owl City.

Its Christmas variety show is Dec. 4-5 at Kamiakin High School in Kennewick.

Performances are at 7 p.m. both days, with an additional 2 p.m. matinee Dec. 5.

“I chose a variety-show theme for this concert to give us something fun and refreshing to present to the community for the Christmas season,” said Heather Hull Hart, artistic director, in a news release.

The show will include nods to famous Christmas TV specials. “We will tip our hat to Bing Crosby, Perry Como, Andy Williams, Lawrence Welk and Bob Hope — all famous hosts of beloved Christmas television variety shows from the 1950s to the 1980s,” Hart said.

Santa Claus will be among the special guests, greeting guests in the lobby and posing for photos.

Forte!, an auditioned choir, is made up of teens from across the Tri-Cities. The group performs choral pop songs with choreography.

Along with Hart as artistic director, Julie Adams and Christine Riesenweber serve as choreographers.

Forte! was formed by the nonprofit Tri-City Youth Choir.

Tickets to the Christmas variety show are $10 for adults and $8 students and seniors. A group rate of $45 for six tickets also is available.

Tickets can be purchased at www.yourtcyc.com, the Tri-Cities Academy of Ballet and Music in Richland and at the door.

Kamiakin High is at 600 N. Arthur St.
